Viet Nam tourism aims to receive 7.2 million international arrivals in 2013

The event had the presence of Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) Hoang Tuan Anh, Deputy Minister of MoCST Ho Anh Tuan, leaders of VNAT and VNAT's departments. In the context of economic recession in the world, in 2012, Viet Nam served 6.847 million international arrivals (increasing 9.5 % over 2011) and 32.5 million domestic tourist trippers (up 8%), gained revenue of 160,000 billion VND (up 23%). Da Nang City, Binh Thuan and Khanh Hoa provinces made breakthroughs to become important tourist destinations of the central region and the whole country. These achievements derived from developing policies, renovating administrative management, implementing promotion campaigns, linking provincial authorities and businesses, improving services… On the other hand, tourism industry still faced negative facts including robbery, ripe off, vendor, sanitation… In 2013, Viet Nam's tourism industry has set the target of serving 7.2 million international arrivals, and 35 million domestic tourists trippers – increases of 5.15 per cent and 7.69 per cent respectively over 2012, and gaining revenue of 190,000 million VND (up 18.75 per cent). Some key tasks in 2013 include: continuing to implement the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy to 2020, vision 2030; developing regional master plans; improving the quality of tourism statistics; promoting E-marketing and developing Vietnam tourism brand associated with the logo and slogan " Vietnam – Timeless Charm"; deploying plan to attract tourists from eight key tourism markets (China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, France, Russia); developing tourism in Halong Bay and some other destinations ensuring sustainability; developing heritage tourism linking with Ha Long Bay. Speaking at the conference, Minister Hoang Tuan Anh highly praised the achievements of tourism sector and informed that in the closing speech of 6th Conference of Central Party's Executive Committee Board, Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that "giving priority to agriculture and tourism investment". This is a great encouragement for the efforts and achievements of the tourism sector, confirming the role and position of the sector in the socio-economic development of the country. He directed, in coming time, tourism sector continues to deploy specific solutions to improve tourism quality, closely collaborate with relevant authorities to create friendly and safe tourism environment; strengthen inspection and examination; strengthen the organization and personnel of tourism sector at all levels; promotes the role of VNAT in multi-side collaboration to develop tourism…
